Kyper Spaceflight represents a significant milestone in my journey as a designer and 3D artist. The process of bringing this vision to life tested my motivation, ability to rapidly acquire new skills, and showcased a wide array of technical obstacles.
This project required me to learn 3D modeling from scratch. Through countless hours of practice, tutorials, and experimentation, I developed a solid foundation in 3D modeling, which became the cornerstone of the entire project.

IDENTITY
Kyper’s identity system posed an interesting challenge, it needed to have the function of modularity while conveying a bold and futuristic aesthetic. The 2 x 3 grid and swappable geometric shapes became the perfect harmony between these two specific characteristics, with an abstract, animated line pattern to further the technological and futurist feel of Kyper’s brand.

PRODUCT ANIMATION
This was my first attempt at creating a realistic product animation, which involved many complex components such as hard surface 3d modeling, applying materials, understanding lighting, keyframing, mixing 2d and 3d animation, and video editing.
The Kyper Navigator originally did not exist in this project, but was later added after creating multiple iterations of a spaceflight app on a smartphone and not having a solution for the design of the spaceflight tickets. Many previous designs did not look futuristic enough for Kyper’s brand, so a new device was created and justified with the idea that a smartphone would not be subtable for interstellar space travel.

3D modeling helped to bring a tactile feel to the project. Creating 3D environments and assets served to refine my skills in blender, a powerful, free, open source 3D modeling software. I learned fundamental skills about topology and texturing singular objects with a variety of materials.
